The celebrated Irish traditional band Lúnasa are joined by 2 legends of Irish music - Dublin folk singer Daoiri Farrell, winner of multiple BBC and RTÉ Folk Awards, and Co.Tyrone banjo and fiddle player, Cathal Hayden, founder of the band “4 Men & a Dog” and one of Ireland's most revered traditional musicians.
Named after an ancient Celtic harvest festival honoring the Irish god Lugh, Lúnasa was formed in 1997 by members of some of the most iconic Irish groups of the previous decade. With their intricate arrangements and innovative sound, the band redefined traditional Irish music, captivating audiences worldwide. Critics have praised their artistry, with The Irish Echo calling them “the hottest Irish acoustic band on the planet,” and MOJO dubbing them "the new gods of Irish music," noting their "thrilling rhythmic underlay." Billboard declared, “anybody who listens can’t help but find them contagious.”
Having performed more than 3000 shows across 36 countries, Lúnasa has become one of the most influential bands in traditional Irish music history. Their collaborations with artists like Natalie Merchant, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Tim O’Brien, alongside performances at venues from Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall to Glastonbury Festival, have cemented their place at the forefront of the genre.
