City Winery Philadelphia Presents Literary Death Match(opens in a new tab)(opens in a new tab) live on November 14th at 7:30pm

Called “the most entertaining reading series ever” by the Los Angeles Times, Literary Death Match — a globe-trotting event that’s taken place in over 70 cities worldwide — brings together four brilliant authors to read their most electric writing for five minutes or less before a panel of all-star judges.

After each reading, the judges take turns spouting hilarious commentary about each story, then select their favorites to advance to the finals. Two finalists then compete in a vaguely literary game (think “Pin the Mustache on Hemingway”) to decide the Literary Death Match champion.

The show returns to the City of Brotherly Love after ten long years away with a lineup that’ll knock your socks off (so we recommend wearing two pairs). But first, a few quotes:
