Tribute to Chaka Khan: Echoes of an Era

City Winery Philadelphia presents Tribute to Chaka Khan: Echoes of an Era live on July 23rd at 7:30pm

The album Echoes of an Era reminds the listener of Chaka Khan’s roots in jazz. She was joined on this recording by Freddie Hubbard, Chick Corea, Joe Henderson, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White and showcased the standards I Hear Music, Hire Wire and I Mean You. This album was a poignant part of Alison Crockett’s childhood introduction to the music that would later shape her life as a vocalist.

This performance is part of My Father’s Record Collection Concert Series curated by Alison Crockett and Thad Wilson, who have been working together on this project since 2018. Through this dynamic performance, Alison shares the story of how her father’s record collection enveloped her in the world of artists like Chaka Khan and inspired her love for this music we call jazz.
